Building a Constellation of Creative Talent
Throughout my 25-year career, I've built a comprehensive approach to talent development that goes beyond traditional hiring. I've reviewedthousands of portfoliosfrom industrial designers, graphic designers, and UX/UI designers, participated in hundreds of interviews for both co-ops and full-time positions, and been directly involved in hiringhundreds of designersat both LPK and P&G.
This extensive experience has enabled me to create a consistent constellation of strong design and creative talent orbiting my organization. By maintaining relationships with emerging and experienced designers, running robust internship programs, and staying connected to design education, I'm able to quickly identify and bring in the right talent exactly when needed—whether for freelance projects or permanent positions.
From 2 to 16+: Building a Global Design Force
When I joined P&G's Oral Care division, we had just two industrial designers. Over time, I built this into a 16+ person global design organization spanning North America, Europe, and Asia. This required developing a bold vision for category transformation, then enrolling teams across cultures and time zones—through countless late-night Teams calls—to bring that vision to life with empathy and connection.
Starting Point
2 industrial designers in P&G Oral Care (Cincinnati)
Germany Expansion
Integrated 4 existing industrial designers in Kronberg, Germany. Added 6 additional industrial designers and 2 UX/UI designers to build comprehensive design capability.
Global Network
Established design teams across three continents, managing designers in Cincinnati, Kronberg (Germany), and Beijing (China). Total team: 16+ designers collaborating across time zones and cultures.
Bridging Continents Through Design Education
I established and ran an international co-op and internship program that created unique cross-cultural opportunities:
German to US: Recruited German students from University of Wuppertal (studying abroad at University of Cincinnati) to intern at P&G's Cincinnati & Boston Offices
US to Europe: Recruited University of Cincinnati Industrial Design students (studying abroad in Europe) to intern at our Kronberg, Germany office
This program created a talent pipeline that gave young designers global experience while giving P&G access to diverse, emerging talent. Many of these interns went on to full-time roles within the organization, having already proven their ability to work across cultures and contribute to our design vision.
